Those people commenting that its a good decision or we welcome this decision they don't even have 1% knowledge about defence or army cantonments first go get some proper knowledge then u will realise that how poor decision this is. What the bloody hell? Can't come across sensible grounds behind this decision. Cantonment security is of so much importance. Highly disappointed. There are total of 850 roads, MOD asked the army reason for closure of these roads, after which army officers of the respective cantonment area told that 119 roads were closed for no reason and the procedure which the army itself made were not followed. After this only 80 roads have been opened for a duration of one or 2 months after which a review report will be submitted. If the Army feels that opening of roads is a threat to the security the cantonment officers can close the roads again. With ever increasing number of automobiles on the road, opening up these roads to civilians is a brilliant idea. As far as security is concerned all are equally vulnerable and can be rugalted through patrolling and cameras. Commercial vehicle traffic should be curtailed as lots of cantt areas have families and schools. Even the road to Prime Minister's house is open to public then why should miliatry families live in private areas... Roads going to training camps, armory etc can still remain private... Roads passing through military residential colony should be made public... Wise decision...

The defense ministry has gone insane why let people get to know more about the in and outs of the cantt area. This can prove to very dangerous. I don't know if it is bad for security but they used to charge with commercial vehicles to use cantonment roads in Khirkee and Pune cantt. Excellent decision... Why should Army folks have private roads specially in residential areas... There families deserve as much as security as any other normal non army family... Total nonsense protest by Army jawans and their wives... Thanks to social media .... We know how we were made blind by so called journalist for decades by reporting bias news every corner of the country ...Logical India one of the saplings of that era ...I come from Secunderabad I know how life difficult for civilians and army has now many army cantts are located in middle of city growing population and civilian roads run through them making task of army and life of civilians difficult.. and I also know how ministry of defence and state governments work over this ...so plz ,,,, buy catchy headlines dnt mislead the reader any further information on this plz go through the state news ... papers of concerned state reader can get better understanding of the problem and solutions offered. Insensible decision.

Defence ministry should never be handed over to those who do not have defence experience. And to all the people trying to prove equality among Army and Civillians, go get a life less ordinary, then you'll be able to figure out. Why is she bothered? I thought they have their own monkey army, 10k year old internet, 12k yr old aircraft and 5gm brains capable of unending delusional non sense. What happens when undisciplined crowd start moving in disciplined area ?
Our education policies never felt the need of introduceing self discipline and social responsibility. Cantt Fund Servent Rule 1937, cantonment board employees are still under this british rule and every day they have to face many things....Not just open road... Worst decision which effected the Ambala mall road which is the part of Army Cantonment . Only one road was here to walk in morning & evening for everyone .
