if it was an accident, why wouldn't the driver report it? d. even if the driver did stop, don't you think being mauled by momma is a small/ fair price to pay for vehicular homicide? who knows, a few scratches may even strengthen his/her "accident" argument? I have been driving big trucks most of my life, in the great white north and beyond; including both Yellowstone & GT NP and these trucks dont/wont/cant stop on a dime! BUT UNDERSTAND (if you can) there are ways to insure success in travel through these areas! - assume the worst case scenario - DEFENSE! make adjustments, slow down, be aware, turn the fucking radio off, check your brakes, look way up the road, watch for beady little eyeballs off to the side, put the pipe away and most importantly HAVE A PLAN for evasive manuever. Think about where you are and what you are doing!!! try it sometime smart ass, you may find that it actually works! Shes a mother grieving for a lost child, poor thing so heartbreaking to see. Thank god the park closed the area for the mummy bear to have space to mourn, thats respecting this magnificent animal. Wow...I can't believe the coward didn't at least notify the authorities of the accident. I understand not stopping and getting out, but to do nothing is unacceptable.
I hope they find whoever is responsible. Sometimes I dispair at the stupid things that happen and the reaction to them.

Yes let us be careful about all living things squirrels, butterflies, bears --if we reflected on the journey of a butterfly from Mexico to Canada perhaps we would admire them.
Perhaps if we took the time to be more careful our world we be a nicer place to live in. This breaks my heart. I was in Grand Teton two weeks ago. There are too many people there and at Yellowstone who should NOT be allowed in the park. People should have to be pre-approved to enter. An intelligence test and driving records would be part of that. There should also be a lot more rangers and hidden cameras in the park to try to catch people who violate the rules. There also need to be call boxes so other law abiding visitors can report the bad tourists (call boxes needed because not everyone can get cell service). The penalties from the National Park Service are far too wimpy as well. There needs to be jail time and fines that are in the 5 figures. I hope this POS who killed the bear cub is caught and serves some time behind bars. My heart breaks for mama grizzly. I hate to say it (truely), but the article says nothing of the facts of the hit and run, if there are any.

Save your very understandable rage and redirect it, or rather manage it, by working to preserve our national treasures. As I replied on someone's post.....
Well I know how people around where I live drive and they don't even slow down for animals. Hell in British Columbia a semi didn't even slow down when a bear was on the side of the road. Semi was going so fast it made the bear go up on his hind legs. So yes I judge people cause you learn from
experience and I learned people are assholes. Yes I stopped to let the poor bear cross the road. How sad! It's awful to think anyone would hit a living creature as and then go on! I a sad statement about human beings!! Natures greatest enemy! Its not animals its MAN!
