Before my mom house caught fire ,She had some of the most beautiful Quilts ,and all hand made and was getting in to the Tie Quilts also .All of us kids and Grandkids got Quilts and she made 2 John Deer Tie Quilts for the twins .My Mom gave some away ,but her work on them was great .For this family to Honor her this way is beautiful . What a wonderful idea! My grandmother's quilts are sitting on a closet shelf where nobody can marvel at them. Art is not meant to be shut away in a closet. I need to get those quilts down and put them on display in my house as a memorial to my grandma Reba. At the end of each year at our church, we display all the quilts all the women have made - church members can buy some which pays for sewing supplies for making more quilts. The rest of the quilts are then shipped to be used by people in need........ these quilts this woman made are a fine tribute to her talents.... We did something similar when Terry's mom passed this past year.

But we did not limit it to quilts we also had alot of her handy work such as painting, sewing clothes, Emoroidary, etc. Makes the visitation more personal. My grandmother Lillie did the same thing, giving me my quilt with instructions to save it until I got married. Years later, after years of solo adventure, she told me I might as well go ahead and use it. Fortunately she lived to see me happily married so the quilt use was finally sanctioned. Priceless memories. I have two of grandma's quilts that I cherish above all other possessions. I use at least one of them every night and to curl up in when sick. I'd swear that when she made them, magic was infused into them. God bless grandma's everywhere and the magical love they have for their grandchildren.

We did this at our Mother's funeral 5 1/2 years ago. I was amazing to see all of the beautiful crocheted blankets she had made for all of her children and grandchildren . Her story was published in a story written by my sister in the book, Ignited Hearts Inspiring Hope . Stories of Women. This would be my grandma. She passed away at the age of 97. She blessed each of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many friends with one of her beautiful quilts. They are still being used to keep us all warm and feeling her love. A friend recently did this at her mother's funeral - she too was a quilter. We who attended were also wrapped in the warmth of her<!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->Samuel L Jackson Incredibles Shirt. Was a lovely surprise walking into the church's sanctuary. A lovely and loving display. Wow. What a great tribute. I did a separate picture this year of all the wonderful craft items that my Mom made for us. Afghans, Christmas decorations, and even simple embroidered pot holders. You remember those hand made things to protect you hand with hot things. We did this too at my house after my mom's funeral. I also buried my mom with her latest quilt she had just finished, Alice in Wonderland. It was very fitting, her first name was Alice, and she was going to a beautiful wonderland in heaven. How nice that her family treasured the quilts and shared them with everyone. I know the hours, love and thought that goes into quilting, trying to make each quilt something special for a loved one<!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->I Love Titties And Hennessy Shirt. A great way to honor their Grandma. We did this at my mother in law 's funeral; did not display this many but just as beautiful and clearly showed her skill and talent and creativity. At our last Christmas together she gave every child; grandchild; great grandchild and in law a quilt she hand made! I absolutely love this. My Grandma Puckett knitted many many blankets and I treasure them. I love to quilt. Haven't done it for a long time cause of my young kids but my goal is to make one for each and also for my grandchildren someday. May God bless this wonderful woman and her family. I had a quilt my grandmother made for my oldest sister. I had to sleep with it in order to sleep my entire childhood. Then my eldest daughter slept with it. When it was in tatters my husband threw it away. Twenty years later I haven't forgiven him. And a friend of mine whose mother was a Kentucky quilter also had her mother's coffin draped with one of the quilts she made . . . And in the eulogy my friend talked about how her mother always wanted to keep her loved ones safe and warm . . . And thus all of them had quilts her mother made for them . . . With love in every stitch! My husband 's grandmother made them by hand and had the ladies of the Blackfoot Reservation Quilt them by hand, not a machine stitch anywhere. I keep them in a cedar chest and gave them to my daughters at a Wedding Shower from their great grandmother. It was a tearful moment. When my grandmother died, my mother set each table with one of the ceramic birds she had collected over the years. Each guest took one home that reminded them of my grandmother. She also crocheted, we also received a blanket that she had made. We did this at my mom's funeral in 1998. It was so beautiful and peaceful. My mom was an avid quilter. Gave away more than she kept. Her best friend taught me how to quilt and I'm still making quilts for my family. That's great my mom quilts and she's made all her grandkids special quilts. Liam likes the devil's and she got the devil's logo on front and flames on reverse side. She made it in flannel and sent him to college with it.
