You were the best tight end the nfl ever had. You should nothing but class on and off the field and showed the millions of kids that followed you how to have class on and how the field. As a Giants fan I have hated this man for the last 15 years.....however, if anyone ever wanted to know what true class looks like here is a perfect example of true class. You were in the middle, Leon Lett to your right and Tony Romo to your left. I have that picture in my office now. We were playing the Redskins and you were on the cover of the program. I still have the program you signed for me. Little did I know I have a picture with some of The Greatest Cowboys to ever wear The Star! Best of luck in your new career! Cowboys for Life! We were watching them for pregame practice and were surrounded by nothing less than acrowd spewing hate and vulgarities for the visiting team. I looked down at my daughter and told her not to pay attention, this is not what sportsmanship is about. As they were leaving the field, Jason Witten looked up and as my daughter waved, he waved back. She was wearing her Giants Jersey and yet he was kind enough to acknowledge a little girl enjoying her first game. The Jersey didn’t matter, she was a child and an opposing icon spared a moment for her. I will never forget that moment. He is a true class act and has been nothing but an asset to professional football. I wish him and his family continued success in his future endeavors. Growing up about 30 minutes where he grew up, being about the same size as him, but just a little taller. I dreamed of meeting JW when I was a child watching my favorite team play. Then in high School, I went to his camp in TN. He was a true role model. Talked to everyone of us, was very friendly, and shared a passion for the game with all of us. My heart breaks knowing he is leaving without a ring. But I’ll take pride telling my children about the greatest Dallas Cowboy I’ve ever seen play the game.
