I had No trouble with them at all..No Garbage upset.And every night they came to eat and sit in my tree looking in my window,When I went out side at night all I had to say is where is lucky and she would come out from under my deck and babies and go behind my house..,I know they are Wild Animals..I gave them their space and I had mine. ,No Problem except I missed them after I moved... THEY HAVE BEEN in MY ATTIC for 2 YEARS NOW CAUSING ALL KINDS of DAMAGE to MY HOUSE :( ... I AGREE Dice Portz , they have plenty to eat without people feeding them. They are a nusance, very destructive and do you know how many birds' nests they raid ? Racoons are the #1 destroyer of my nesting wren's houses. ― Wayne W. Dyer. We always had wild raccoon "pets." They started showing up on our patio to eat the dog food. So, we just started putting extra food out. Fun and entertaining little creatures. Never heard of a raccoon having a disease. I feed many raccoons. I have fed them for years, and I never have had problems with them. They are very friendly. Human beings have destroyed their habitats and many of their food sources, and now they need our help. Wild animals are very important for the survival of our ecosystems. Marie-claire Guerin maybe make a "raccoon feeder" like a bird feeder, so that they don't associate YOU with food, that way they don't develop behaviors with humans that could get them in trouble one day? Feeding raccoons isn't okay. Besides being a high risk rabies vector they are a nuisance animal.
And before you go spouting off some ignorant BS, I love raccoons, they can be extremely cute and extraordinarily intelligent. But that intelligence can and does get them into trouble and creates conflicts with humans, conflicts that always end badly for the raccoon.

If you really care, even a little about these animals, you'll leave them alone. we had a raccoon come in thru the doggie door and just trashed the kitchen where the dog feeder was. i watched it when it came in as i thought it was so cute. he washed himself really good before he ate any food then between bites he washed more and just trashed the kitchen as he ate and cleaned himself. it really was cute but cleaning up after him was no fun. my kitty wanted to say hi really badly but i said no and left her in the bedroom upstairs where i was watching the raccoon. he was the biggest coon ive ever seen then or now. in high school my girlfriend had a baby raccoon for a pet for a while while they nursed it from like a broken leg or something. she hated to put it back into the wild. In years past the police would bring us babies to raise which we tried to do without getting them to be too friendly with humans. Now there are laws/regs that hinder simple efforts like ours. Mom was probably someone's dinner or got hit by a car or picked up rabies and wondered off. Poor babies, glad someone cared enough to ensure their growth. And it's adorable with the dog socializing with them. "Experts say that it's OK to build a shelter for wildraccoons if their mother is clearly missing."
BULLSHIT! Raccoons are a RABIES vector. You have to be nuts to put yourself, your family, and others at risk, and the game authorities in every state will tell you that.
If you know of such raccoons call your state fish and wildlife authorities or a person who is licensed to deal with nuisance animals and have them removed. I understand your concern though, especially if you have had animals with rabies before. Some of my family members have farms, so we are not immune to such things. But carefully moving and providing shelters for the babies should be of very little consequence. My family had to do so with a young Fa Thor Shirt – Fathor Shirt before. However, if you are not confident in your abilities around animals, I do suggest calling a local wildlife center if possible so that they can move them safely for you. When I was a kid we had one that my parents rescued from a storm drain where her mother and siblings all were drowned. She was so sweet and smart. Sucked when she started wanting out to have babies. We found a nature preserve and eased her back into it. We'd visit her and one day we saw her with some babies and she wouldn't let us near her anymore, and after that never saw her again. Sad for us, but we know it probably meant she just fully acclimated to nature again. I'd have another pet raccoon in a If You Rub My Butt You Can Pull My Pork Bbq Shirt . I would only build one if it was about 50 miles from my house! We have raccoons around us and they are very destructive. They have tried to take over our dog house and cat house (yes we have a Fortnite Just Play It T Shirt for our outside cats). They carry in trash and other garbage. The have tried many times to get into our attic. They are simply nuisance! Let them live in wild where they belong!They carry diseases that can be transmitted to pets and even people; rabies, canine dystemper, parvo, roundworms (Baylisascaris procyonis). I'm no expert. That said, permitting dogs and raccoonsto socialize, especially in the Raccoon's infancy, would be counter-intuitive if you plan to leave them in the wild. I have had the experience of a domestic cat, raised from a feral kitten, that was very Coyote-wise.
